Maybe you just watched “Prefontaine” on Satellite tv or maybe you’re just trying to get in better shape but if you’ve been training for a marathon you know it’s a long road. When the big day comes you’re going to want to fuel up right – here are a few things to keep in mind when you’re eating on marathon morning:
CARB LOAD: This is a great tip – the night before. Don’t eat anything carb-tastic the day of the race and be sure to hold back on the heavy sauce if you do decide to go with pasta the night before. ON the day of, stick to a banana in the morning and maybe some oatmeal.
COFFEE IS FINE: If you can stomach it, coffee can actually give you a small caffeine boost you may need to get the race done. Stick to one cup only and go easy on the sugar and cream.
GOO: If you haven’t tried Goo Gel yet, get some BEFORE the race to get used to it. It’s calorific though and can get you through a mid-race slump so take it if you’re offered.
